Why are we doing this?
Have you ever been to an event and found the atmosphere charged by the collective knowledge of the participants debating a hot topic or solving an issue? Sadly when everyone goes home, this energy often dissipates. This is the constructive energy and power we wish to lever within our RaetsMarine Community.
How do we do this?
When we meet physically conversations spark up and often more of your expertise becomes apparent. As a trusted member of our network for some time, we know some information about you, but we also make an effort to listen and understand that situations may change over time. Perhaps there are other specialist expertise you possess, but we did not know to ask you for. This is why we invite you to review your profile within the Community, and take ownership of what we know about you.
What is it for?
When we gather it proves the size and scale of our network, yet even then it feels as if we are still using this knowledge in an antiquated fashion. New technology offers an opportunity to connect more with us, irrespective of your geographic location, and for us to think outside of traditional boundaries when looking for help to solve a problem or claim. In this way, we solve issues and you get more business.
There are two ways to make use of RaetsMarine Community,
The first is the traditional logging on to the website and navigating around from your dashboard to browse or
comment on other users questions, industry information and loss prevention advice; or post questions / opinions for
discussions with your peers.
The second approach will appeal to the more mobile user, by customising your subscriptions and notifications
(detailed within these guidelines), it is possible to receive automatic notification of;
The RaetsMarine Community is built on an industry leading software platform, renowned for its stability and security within high level organisations.

RaetsMarine Community uses a two level approach to searching.
The search function is found on the top right of screen (black log-in menu), as well as from 'My Dashboard' when logged in.
In short - yes!
The operating system of the RaetsMarine Community website has been designed to be simple to use, with most activities requiring less than 1-2 minutes to complete.

The first thing to know is that the registration process is not automatic.
Given the nature of the platform, we physically check who is applying to join RaetsMarine Community, so there are a number of things that will help ensure an efficient and therefore faster registration process.
1. Enter your name as username, in clear format - 'Firstname Familyname'.
2. Use your company email address, individual type, e.g. 'Firstname.Familyname@Raetsmarine.com'.
In this way, we can quickly confirm if your application is genuine and begin the verification process.
If you have any further questions, you may contact us
1. Log-in to RaetsCommunity.
2. Select 'My Dashboard'
3. Choose 'Notifications' from the task menu tabs.
4. Then choose 'Subscriptions' and select and modify relevant subscriptions, from immediate / to hourly / twice daily / daily / weekly; to suit your needs.
In a busy, dynamic worldwide business, the notifications function within the Community is a useful way to manage your information flow. From this section you are able to ‘set’ your preferences. Maybe there are particular types of information you want to be alerted to, and others less so. If you have a particular interest area, for example news specific to your local geographic area or specialist expertise, this is where you can choose what, where, when you see it.
To explain how this works in practice select the ‘Notifications’ tab from the 'My' menus shown on grey menu bar.
The first task menu item is ‘Overview’ providing a summary of existing subscriptions and features active linked texts.
In next section ‘Subscriptions’ you can see what pages you wish to be informed on and when they are updated,
including the ability to set the frequency of updates, immediately / every hour / twice a day / daily / weekly summaries.
There are two ways to add subscriptions,
*this applies from Articles, Forum Posts and participant Expert Room Posts.
The Expert Room is a concept for enabling discussion across geographical and time-zone boundaries.
It is a select privilege to be involved in Expert Room discussions and is reserved for valued members of RaetsMarine's Network.
Expert Rooms are accessed from ‘My Dashboard’ and only available to senior members of RaetsCommunity.
Expert Rooms exist in different categories to solve issues related to loss prevention or to handle claim specifics - some rooms are open, some by request and some invite only.
The number of rooms you can see depends on your status, the category, and if you have been invited into the room.
An attractive feature of the Expert Room is the ability to contribute outside your geographic location, whilst earning recognition within the Community and financial reward based on your input.
*It is therefore very important to complete your Profile Expertise in order to be found when a Expert Room is being created!
RaetsMarine members of the Community have the ability to create and manage Expert Rooms.
The decision on whom to invite into an Expert Room discussion works two ways:
1. Searching profile information submitted by users, for example (a) expert specialism, (b) local or foreign experience such as cargo, port, etc.
2. By manually finding and adding a user.
It is therefore important that if you enter relevant information into your profile tabs if wish to be highlighted in a search.
We have talked about the ‘More cure, more pay’ principle and listened to questions from the community on how this might work in practice.
At RaetsMarine we train our claims professionals to value the input received from our support network, and to highlight exceptions that are noteworthy of recognition for further review.
Recognition and reward mean different things to different people, some say is not all about money, but sometimes it really is. We review performance on a periodical basis, examining the exceptional situations, in order to allocate due recognition and reward. We do not rely solely on a rigid exponential formula to do this, as like almost every case there are subtle qualitative differences to consider. If you are such a contributor, you can expect to be invited to discuss a fair and equitable reward, over and above your normal agreement with us.
Once an Expert Room has been defined including its mission statement (this is the question or query itself for discussion/response).
(If selecting 'quote' it will automatically insert the previous text)
Notes:
If you are viewing a posting you made, you may also see the action buttons 'Edit / Delete'.
Care should be given to the content and the target audience, keeping in mind your personal reputation and our user policy.
Should you wish to be notified of responses to your Expert Room post, it is possible by selecting the 'subscription' function found on left side below the posting.
If you are a member of an Expert Room, you may have noticed other some of the participants having the status 'Online' below their details on the left vertical menu. To chat, If you click on this text and a chat box will open.
