The impact of the Rhine River closure in early 2011

The chemical tanker Waldhof capsized on January 13 on the River Rhine at Lorelei near Wiesbaden in Germany. The Waldhof was carrying sulphuric acid, from the BASF plant in Ludwigshafen (Germany) to Antwerp (Belgium). The incident took two crew members life.
